Mr. Sundar Pichai, vice president of product management, has anounced that GOOGLE is going to launch a new operative system for laptops named CHROME OS before the end of the year. The new operative system was announced in July 2009, almost a year ago, and the COMPUTEX TAIPEI 2010 international fair (June, 1-5) was ideal place to confirm it.
CHROME OS is based on the LINUX and it will be Internet oriented through GOOGLE CHROME web search machine so it will count with the complete browser support from the very beginning. The new operative system is gong to support HTML5 and so called Flash technology. The first version is gong to be suitable for notebooks and there is strong expectacion that CHROME OS is gong to be free.
This suppose a new challenge to MICROSOFT and to its WINDOWS and a new phase in the battle between the two giants. GOOGLE has communicated recently that is stopping WINDOWS use in all its work centers in favor of LINUX or MAC since these operative systems provide better security. GOOGLE has made this decision although MICROSOFT continues being unquestionable leader in the sector with more then 90% market share.
