Internet technology leader company Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) has acquired Picnik (http://www.picnik.com/), service for processing photos headquartered in Seattle who defines itself as a team for “making great software for real people, eating the food at Pike Place Market, and taking pictures that bring to life great memories of times we've had with family and friends.”
Picnik service was presented in 2005. This service allows users to edit, crop and touch-up and add effects to images directly on the Internet carries and social services like Picassa, Flickr, Facebook, Myspace, Webshots and Webs... all without leaving web browser.
At this moment it is not known the value of this corporative adquisition. It is not announced any significant change to Picnik. Google acquired Picassa recently and it allready offers some similar but more basic services then Picnik. Maybe the idea is to add to Picassa some of the Picnic’s advanced technologies and services?
